The company is now expanding its product lineup by introducing a smart hummingbird feeder and a smart bird bath. These additions aim to attract a wide array of birds to your yard, including both those in need of nourishment and those looking for hydration. When it debuted on Kickstarter in 2020, the Bird Buddy promised to streamline birdwatching. It offered a feeder equipped with a built-in camera that automatically captured pictures of birds visiting for food. These images were saved to the cloud for easy access on mobile devices. Although the Bird Buddy carried a price tag of $200, it was significantly more affordable than high-quality binoculars or the heavy camera lenses typically used by birdwatchers to document their observations. It enticed birds to appear on camera by providing a supply of birdseed and water. The device was powered by a rechargeable battery, requiring recharging a few times per week. Alternatively, users could opt for a solar charging accessory that could be placed on top of the feeder.
