Following the launch of the flagship series last week, information regarding the camera hardware on the Samsung Galaxy S23 and S23+ has now been made public. While the two phones' primary cameras remain the same, two of their four cameras do receive improvements, with the selfie camera appearing to be the most significant. Last week saw the launch of the Samsung Galaxy S23 series. Since then, the phones have gradually made their way into reviewers' hands, revealing even more details about the expensive gadgets. Prior to Unpacked, an insight into specifics of the camera hardware in the Galaxy S23 Ultra was provided; this time, the Galaxy S23 and S23+, which are less expensive, are the emphasis. This is not unusual because Samsung frequently uses the same primary camera sensor for two generations. In any case, the GN3's 1/1.56-inch sensor makes it smaller than the primary cameras on the majority of rival flagships, with the exception of a few models like the iPhone 14 and iPhone 14 Plus. The S23 and S23+ switch from the IMX563 to the 1/2.55-inch IMX564 ultra-wide-angle cameras, just like the Galaxy S23 Ultra. So, probably an incremental upgrade. Under their telephoto lenses, the S23 and S23+ still have the same 10 MP S5K3K1 from last year's phones. The 1/3.94-inch S5K3K1 appears to be a variation of the S5K3J1 utilized for zoom on the Galaxy S21 Ultra, whereas the IMX754 zoom sensor is used on the S22 Ultra and S23 Ultra. The telephoto lens on the Xiaomi 13 is made of the S5K3K1. The S23, S23+, and S23 Ultra all appear to have the identical 12 MP S5K3LU, which is a shift from the two prior generations, which all had inferior selfie cameras than their Ultra brothers. The 40 MP S5KGH1 used on the S22 Ultra appears to have been adequately replaced by the S5K3LU, and it should be an even more obvious improvement over the 10 MP IMX374 used on the S22 and S22+.
