Google Pixel Call Screen Beta Adds AI Voices to Help You Screen Spam Calls

(Image credit- Tech Radar) Google is currently beta testing an improved Pixel Call Screen that adds conversational AI to help consumers deal with obnoxious robocalls. If you are new to the feature, Call Screen offers Pixel phone owners a simple way to screen calls from unknown sources. Using Google's spam database, you could, for instance, automatically reject persons whose phone numbers match those in the database. With this beta, the company will add a "series" of natural-sounding voice prompts to "determine who's calling and why." Google said this initiative aims to significantly cut down on the number of robocalls Pixel users get. For whatever reason, Google hasn't said much about it. Remember that it is a work in progress and might not function exactly as you had hoped. The process is still in its early stages. In order to develop AI, the tech giant is seeking feedback from early adopters. It appears that the company wants to secure that authentic voice. Google claims it intends to include those modifications in the final version, whenever that is released, after receiving input. Although we did seek more details, the AI-powered Call Screen's launch date is still unknown.

Availability and  Feedback

Google is reducing the complexity of the Call Screen user interface in addition to the AI voices. Selecting Protection Level from the Settings menu will now bring up a new window that gives you more precise control over how to filter calls. Additionally, there are two more tiers that add additional scrutiny on top of reducing spam output. While Maximum completely blocks all unidentified numbers, Medium limits "suspicious calls". Recent Pixel devices like "the Pixel 6 and above" can access the beta, but only in the US. Google provides a set of instructions for installing the AI-boosted features on its Help website. In short, you must download the "latest version of the Phone app" before accessing the Call Screen part of the Settings menu. It appears that the voices will automatically be taken into account during the screening procedure. Hopefully, Google is able to control spam. In recent years, things have grown very miserable. 75 billion robocalls and 225 billion robotexts were made in 2022 alone, according to a new study.
