Review of Logi Dock: Cutest conference calls ever

(Image credit- The Verge) The Logi Dock, which costs $399, surpasses most. It's made to be an all-in-one docking solution that enables you to totally do away with laptop-built audio recording and playback during calls, as well as microphone headsets. Logitech has included some in-meeting controls, a built-in speakerphone, and some creative underlighting in addition to the extra ports and laptop charging features seen on docking stations. Compared to the typical dull slabs distributed in corporate workplaces, this dock is much jazzier.

How do we evaluate and rate products?

The Logi Dock can supply up to 100W of power to a connected laptop while supporting up to two 4K 60Hz screens. This is sufficient power to charge nearly anything other than power-hungry gaming systems. Its gripping rubberized feet help it stay put on any surface despite its relatively light weight of just over two pounds. As a result, this dock is primarily intended for more permanent office installations. The majority of connections are found on the dock's back, which is helpful for keeping cords out of your workstation. Two USB-A ports, two USB-C ports, one HDMI 2.0 output, and one DisplayPort 1.4 output are all located on the rear of the device. Along with a Kensington lock slot, a Bluetooth 5.1 pairing button, and a 230W power input, and, the Logi Dock also has a specialized USB-C Upstream port (denoted by a purple port) that connects the dock to your laptop. In order to avoid reaching around the device's rear to connect to any extra devices, there is a third USB-C port on the side of the dock. With a lightning icon, this particular port and one of the USB-A ports on the back are identified as supporting 7.5W rapid charging. Instead, all of the USB ports are USB 3.1 Gen 1 and only support 5Gbps, which is a very slow transfer speed. Given the cost, that's disheartening, but for the majority of regular office workers, it won't mean the end of the world. Thunderbolt's main benefit is higher data transfer rates (up to 40Gbps for Thunderbolt 4), so unless you routinely move large volumes of data around or need to optimize your peripheral speeds, you can get by without it. (The HDMI and DisplayPort ports are required.) Additionally painfully lacking on the Logi Dock are two connectors that are often featured on other docks: an Ethernet port and a 3.5mm audio jack.
