The issue is that, up until recently, you could only use it for iPad-related items. The USB camera input is one fantastic new feature of the impending iPadOS 17 update. Video cameras and webcams will soon be able to be connected in the same way that USB microphones, recorders, and other audio devices can already be done. Connecting to iPadOS 17

You can view the footage in the FaceTime app if you attach a webcam or even your expensive mirrorless camera to an iPad running iPadOS 17. This is obviously intended for making video calls using cameras that are more advanced than the front-facing camera that is built-in. You can even connect a USB capture card, a gadget that transforms video from different sources into a language your computer can recognize. Additionally, using capture cards to stream video from your gaming console to a website like Twitch is a typical application. You'll need an iPad running the developer beta of iPadOS 17 and a method for converting the HDMI signal from the Nintendo Switch dock into a UVC (USB video class) signal that your iPad can comprehend in order to accomplish this. Enhanced iPad Usability

This new ability has a wide range of different applications. In essence, you may now use your iPad to show images, videos, etc. whenever you wish to utilize a screen. It's not necessary to import every photograph or video you take into your photo library in order to view them on a large screen or present them to clients. Additionally, you could connect a TV receiver dongle to your iPad, which would make it a portable television. or connect a PlayStation or Xbox. Or, with the proper adapters, a Super Nintendo console from the beginning. You could make better-quality video calls using it the way Apple intended. And this is only the start. You might get TV signals or operate your cameras while watching their video feed using specialized software. This is a useful feature all by itself, but it also represents a shift in Apple's strategy. The recent release of Logic Pro and Final Cut Pro for the iPad indicates that Apple is serious about its tablet.
